Syngenta Acquires Brazil’s Agtech Startup Strider

Strider, an agtech pest-monitoring platform, has been acquired by agribusiness giant Syngenta for an undisclosed amount. Strider’s investors include monashees+, which led a US$3m Series A in 2016 with Qualcomm Ventures and Barn Investimentos; Barn previously invested R$2m in 2014. (Press Release) Syngenta and Strider announced today that Syngenta has entered into a binding agreement to acquire Strider, a Brazilian AgTech company focused on operational management solutions for farms.

Completion of the transaction is subject to clearance by the relevant merger-control authorities. Financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.

Strider is an important player in the Latin American digital agriculture market and the transaction will enhance Syngenta’s ability to bring greater value to customers by providing innovative digital solutions for the management of on farm information.
