LAVCA represents its members and the broader investment community on regulation and critical policy issues relevant to PE/VC in Latin America and advocates for the implementation and maintenance of best practices and international standards. LAVCA staff, under the leadership of the Public Policy and Global Standards Council (PP-GS), works in partnership with global and local industry players and policy makers to facilitate a sustainable investment environment.
Globally, investors are changing the way they interact with portfolio companies, LPs, and local communities, developing best practices for maximum impact. LAVCA works to support the implementation of environment, social and governance (ESG) practices across the region as this has become increasingly important for institutional investors.
The LAVCA Scorecard is a bi-annual ranking of the PE/VC environment in 12 key marks based on indicators such as taxation, minority shareholder rights, restrictions on institutional investors, and capital markets development. It is widely recognized and used by policymakers and regulators.
LAVCA and PP-GS Council Members developed a set of Country Policy Overviews for Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. Relevant for limited partners and fund managers interested in or already active in the region, the LAVCA Country Policy Overviews consist of macro-overview policy briefs on fund formation rules and restrictions around the role of institutional investors.
