LAVCA represents its members and the broader investment community on regulation and critical policy issues relevant to PE/VC in Latin America, and advocates for the implementation of best practices and international standards. LAVCA staff, under the leadership of the Public Policy and Global Standards Council (PP-GS), works in partnership with global and local industry players and policy makers to facilitate a sustainable investment environment. This work is supported by active involvement of LAVCA’s legal committee with representatives of leading law firms in Latin America.
LAVCA, PP-GS Council Members, and LAVCA’s Legal Committee developed a summary of rules/regulations affecting private capital funds. Overviews are organized by country for Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru and cover Fund Formation, Fundraising, Investing, & Management. They are relevant for investors interested in or currently investing or raising capital in the region.
The LAVCA Scorecard is a bi-annual ranking of the PE/VC environment in 12 key marks based on indicators such as taxation, minority shareholder rights, restrictions on institutional investors, and capital markets development. It is widely recognized and used by policymakers and regulators.
LAVCA submitted documentation presented by AMEXCAP to Mexican finance minister commenting on regulatory changes affecting direct investing by local pension funds in private equity, tax treatment of PE/VC funds and investments as well as fund formation and operation.
