PC Capital and Altum Capital Complete Undisclosed Investment in Medios Cattri

7 December 2020

Mexican private equity firm PC Capital and Mexican private credit fund Altum Capital invested in Medios Cattri, a Mexico-based digital advertising company. The amount of the transaction was undisclosed.

(Press Release) Mexico City, Mexico, December 7, 2020. On Thursday, October 29th, PC Capital Development Fund II, L.P. completed an investment in Medios Cattri S.A. de C.V. (“Cattri”), one of the leading digital advertising companies in Mexico, while simultaneously acquiring a majority participation in the New York based AdSpace Networks, Inc. (“Lightbox OOH” or “Lightbox”), the leading shopping mall digital out of home network in the United States. The deal was also financed with the support of Altum Capital (“Altum”), a Mexico City-based private credit fund.

The investment has consolidated two of the largest digital out of home advertising companies from United States and Mexico, creating a network of over 5,700 screens in different strategic locations throughout the two countries, and an advertising ecosystem with a monthly reach of over 108 million people; while at the same time positions Cattri to gain entry into the U.S. market through Lightbox’s digital video dominance shopping and lifestyle centers across the country.

Since the investment was materialized, Cattri and Lightbox have capitalized on operating synergies and created strategic partnerships with renowned companies such as We Work, achieving a deal on November 18th for advertising on more than 5,000 screens in We Work’s locations across the U.S.

Regarding the acquisition of Lightbox, Victor Cattan, Medios Cattri’s CEO, stated that “We were incredibly impressed by the momentum that Lightbox has achieved in the past few years, and of course their record performance leading into 2020. Their position at the forefront of delivering digital video in real world environments, plus Cattri’s advanced tech and engineering, will make a powerful combination as we tackle the North American market together.”

Meanwhile, Greg Glenday, Lightbox’s CEO commented that “We set out to find a partner who shared our optimism about the future of the digital out- of-home industry. At Lightbox we believe that digital out-of-home will be among the fastest growing advertising platforms over the next decade. While technology has disrupted every other traditional media form, OOH is in a unique position whereby advertising technology advancements only makes us better. Technology like Cattri’s will level the playing field for us and provides the tools and data to compete with digital and broadcast.”

“We are honored to have partnered with such an experienced and proven management team in the execution of their expansion plan in in North America. We are confident that together, these two companies will create an unprecedented competitor that will transform this industry with their revolutionary technologies”, said Pablo Coballasi and Gabriel Araujo, Managing Directors of PC Capital.
