2022 Top Women Investors in Latin American Tech

Women in venture are underrepresented in Latin America as they are globally.  In the US, women only hold ~16% of GP positions in VC, and the majority of firms have no women partners; in other markets, reliable benchmarks for comparison are harder to come by.

In an effort to continue to raise their visibility, LAVCA has published the list 2022 Top Women Investing in Latin American Tech, and our fourth annual list of Emerging Women Investors in Latin American Tech.

LAVCA identified 20 new partner-level women investing in Latin American VC/Tech in 2022, representing a 23% increase over 2021. LAVCA also published a companion list identifying 52 new junior investment professionals , a 16% increase over 2021.

Seven women from last year’s Emerging Women Investors list now hold Partner or Partner-level roles and are featured in this list:

Regina Zurutuza (500 Global), Gabriela Cibils-Bernardes (Cibersons), Bianca Sassoon (17Sigma), Macarena Liu (Driven VC), Vanessa Bello (Wayra Hispam), Viviane Radiuk (Invest Tech), Evelyn Arriaga Velasco (G2 Momentum Capital)

METHODOLOGY

This list includes 140 senior-level women investment professionals who are deploying capital in early-and growth-stage tech deals in Latin America, as well as notable women angels investing in over three deals per year across multiple deals in the region. All investors were vetted for inclusion by LAVCA Research.

Every year since 2016, LAVCA solicits nominations of top women investors in tech from the investment community. The inaugural list included 37 investors; the 2017 list added eight new investors. In 2018, complementing the peer nomination process, LAVCA reviewed the investment teams of all active Latin American VC funds, producing a list of 82 senior-level and 47 mid- and junior-level investment professionals. In 2019, those numbers jumped to 88 and 87, respectively, increased to 103 and 97 during 2020, and reflected 114 and 116 investment professionals in 2021.

Emerging Women Investors in Latin American Tech

LAVCA also published a fourth annual list of Emerging Women Investors in Latin American Tech, with 135 junior and mid-level investment professionals on VC investment teams in the region.
