XP Private Equity Acquires CBV Eye Hospital for R$200m (em português)

XP Private Equity acquired control of Brazil-based CBV Eye Hospital for R$200m. XP plans to use CBV as a consolidation platform in Brazil, with 5,000 clinics and ~ R$8b of annual revenue.

(Yahoo Finanças) O fundo de private equity gerido pela plataforma digital de investimentos XP Inc. adquiriu o controle no hospital de olhos CBV por R$ 200 milhões, disseram os executivos da XP nesta segunda-feira (1).

A XP planeja usar o CBV como uma plataforma de consolidação em um setor bastante pulverizado no Brasil, com 5.000 clínicas em todo o país e com receitas anuais em torno de 8 bilhões de reais, disse Chu Kong, sócio da XP, em entrevista à Reuters.

O acordo é o mais recente sinal de consolidação no fragmentado setor de saúde brasileiro, seguindo uma tendência observada anteriormente em laboratórios, hospitais e clínicas oncológicas.

“Clínicas oftalmológicas e hospitais são um negócio atraente porque o tratamento oftalmológico ainda tem uma penetração baixa no Brasil e também porque é um tratamento que permeia todas as fases da vida”, disse Kong, que não especificou o tamanho da participação da XP na empresa.

O CBV, com sede em Brasília, é a primeira aquisição do recém-lançado fundo de private equity da XP, que levantou R$ 1,3 bilhão com mais de 5 mil investidores em fevereiro para investir em empresas de médio porte.

Fundado pelo médico Marcos Ávila em 2004, o hospital registrou uma receita de quase R$ 80 milhões no ano passado, realizando 100 mil consultas e 7 mil cirurgias.

“Me juntei à XP porque vi a oportunidade de consolidar o setor, mas não tinha capital para financiar o projeto sozinho”, disse Ávila, acrescentando que todo o dinheiro investido pela XP financiaria o crescimento da empresa. A meta da CBV é atingir 1 milhão de consultas em cinco anos após aquisições e crescimento orgânico.

Ávila permanecerá no negócio como acionista e diretor médico. Mas Rafael Mendes, ex-sócio das empresas de capital privado Victoria Capital Partners e Principia Capital Partners, foi escolhido como CEO. Anteriormente, Mendes liderava aquisições pelo grupo de oncologia Oncoclínicas.
