The government of Jujuy in northwest Argentina partnered with Wayra-accelerated startup uSound to launch “Jujuy Escucha,” an initiative to improve the quality of life for people with hearing impairments.
(Usound- Jujuy escucha) Usound, The Intelligent Hearing System that turns Smartphones into hearing aid devices, and the Government of the Province of Jujuy, launches “Jujuy Escucha”. The program was developed aiming to provide a better quality of life for 1k people with hearing impairment.
Usound is a eHealth Company specialized in the development and implementation of an intelligent hearing system that turns the smartphones into digital headphones. It´s interactive and has the capability of learning and growing from users requirements. They also help to prevent further hearing loss, adjusting the intensity of sound frequencies in an optimal level for the users.
The startup is focused on implementing an innovative hearing solution, using state of the art technology. The resulting product, is made available to a larger user base than current technology due to its far lower costs. Furthermore, it provides a greater opportunity for integration, greater social inclusion, generation of productive members of society and greater opportunities for education.
The Company, along with the Government of the Province of Jujuy, created Jujuy Escucha, which was born in order to provide a better quality of life for the hearing impaired. They will bring the system to 1,000 people in a first instance and then extend it to 20,000 by 2018. Afterwards, Usound plans to replicate it nationally with Argentina Escucha, to be followed by an implementation in Latam and The Caribbean.
