500 Mexico City Unveils Startups

(PEHub) 500 Mexico City has announced the 17 new companies that will be part of its acceleration process for Latin America. There have been 45 companies that have gone through the selection process in the offices in Mexico City.

500 Mexico City announces the 17 new companies that will be part of the batch Winter 2013 being the third on of its accelerator for Latin America. With this Startups, there has been 45 companies that have gone through this process in the offices in Mexico City such as Cine+, Rubberit, Yaxi, Conekta and MyCoffeBox.

Of the total number of applications received through Angelist, only about the 5% were accepted after been interviewed by the investment team, trying to find the best entrepreneurs in the region.

Each batch of companies has unique characteristics that separates them from earlier, with a group truly diverse and international, with founders from around 20 cities of Latin America such as Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Bogotá, Mexico City, Hermosillo, the first company founded entirely by women.

The 17 selected companies will go through a acceleration process of 5 months in
the coworking space Chihuahua 230 where will work with the 500 Mexico City team issues of distribution, product and fundraising, will also have weekly meetings from the network of more than 200 mentors who share their knowledge both faceto-face and remote.

Juan López Salaberry the accelerator manager comments “We are very excited about what is happening. We have companies from such different places as Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, San Luis Potosí or Bogota working under one roof and all looking to solve important problems, not only for their own countries, but also understandin the impact for the region.

Mexico today offers companies a macroeconomic stability, allies of the private sector, qualified and competitive talent and of course the largest Spanish-speaking market that all companies eager to conquer. That is why Mexico becomes a strategic place for the development of their business, with proximity to the United States and a privileged context from which they can lead regional operations.”
