MercadoLibre Announces First Three Investments in Startups for a Total of US$300,000 (en español)

(Pulso Social) A few months ago, MercadoLibre and Wayra announced their partnership to encourage and promote Argentinian startups, both through funding and mentoring. Following this trend, MercadoLibre announced the launch of a fund of US$10 million to fund ventures that capitalize on the potential of its API for the entire ecosystem of MercadoLibre, privileging early stage ventures.

Unos meses atrás señalábamos que MercadoLibre y Wayra habían anunciado su alianza para fomentar e impulsar startups argentinos, tanto mediante financiación como mentoreo. Con ese mismo propósito MercadoLibre había anunciado el lanzamiento de un fondo de 10 millones de dólares para financiar emprendimientos que puedan capitalizar el potencial de su API para todo el ecosistema de MercadoLibre privilegiando aquellos emprendimientos que se encuentren en una etapa inicial.

La novedad es que Daniel Ravinovich, CTO de Mercado Libre anunció las tres primeras inversiones por US$ 100.000 cada una que realizó en conjunto con Wayra.

“Para el equipo de tecnología de MercadoLibre, estas inversiones marcan un gran hito en el proceso de apertura de nuestra plataforma. Esperamos que sean las primeras de muchas. Imposible no agradecer a Andrés Saborido y todo el equipo de Wayra por su excelente trabajo en la selección y evaluación de proyectos” destacó y agregó que la selección se realizó entre un grupo de más de mil candidatos:

Mr Presta: ofrece crédito a vendedores de MercadoLibre, utilizando la API como base para el credit scoring. La idea es simple: analizando el historial de ventas de un vendedor, es posible estimar su cash flow y en consecuencia, la capacidad de repago. Una sola integración permite estimar solvencia a cientos de miles de vendedores en la región, actuales y futuros. El modelo de negocio de Mr Presta es similar al de Kabbage.com: obtiene fondos de inversores pasivos, administra la cartera y por eso cobra una comisión y un porcentaje de las utilidades. Cesar Manduca y Carlos Rosso son los co-founders.

Nubi Metrics: es una plataforma cloud-based de Business Intelligence y Analytics para e-commerce. Con sólo un click, los vendedores de MercadoLibre pueden acceder a un dashboard orientado a entender su negocio y tomar mejores decisiones, permitiendo también un drill-down hasta el máximo nivel de granularidad. NubiMetrics integra además información de redes sociales y de Google Analytics, para proporcionar una visión unificada al vendedor. El modelo de negocios es el cásico freemium, en el que existe un paquete gratis para probar funcionalidades básicas, así como también paquetes profesionales a partir de US$100 mensuales. Andrés Jara Werchau y Pamela Schreurer, son los co-founders.

Parsimotion: ERP cloud-basedorientado a supply chain. Con una mínima integración, vendedores de MercadoLibre podrán administrar inventarios, órdenes y costos para optimizar su operación. El salto de calidad es material, dado que muchísimas PyMEs administran estos temas de forma muy rudimentaria. Los precios son dramáticamente inferiores a los de cualquier ERP “tradicional”. En Argentina por ejemplo, varían entre $130 y $650 mensuales. Existe además un free-trial de 90 días. Pablo Altamira y Andrés Kirschbaum son los co-founders.
