CAF Invests in Brazilian Venture Capital Fund NascentTI (em português)

(Confrapar) The Development Bank of Latin America (CAF – Cooperación Andina de Fomento) approved an investment of up to R$ 7 million in Confrapar’s fund NascenTI, which seeks to invest in innovative technology companies in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

 

O Banco de Desenvolvimento da América Latina (CAF – Cooperación Andina de Fomento) aprovou investimentos de até R$ 7 milhões no Fundo NascenTI, gerido pela Confrapar e destinado ao crescimento de empresas inovadoras em tecnologia no estado fluminense. O comprometimento da CAF é de 20% do NascenTI de acordo com o valor do patrimônio do fundo.

Além da CAF, o Fundo NascenTI conta com outros grandes investidores, como a FINEP (Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos) e a AgeRio (Agência Estadual de Fomento, do Governo do Rio de Janeiro – antiga InvesteRio), além de family offices e investidores qualificados. Segundo Rodrigo Esteves, gestor do fundo, o investimento da CAF no NascenTI reforça o trabalho que vem sendo realizado. “O fundo vai investir em mais seis empresas nos próximos dois anos, sendo que duas já estão aprovadas em Comitê de Investimento, e começamos a preparação do Series B nas companhias do portfólio. A entrada da CAF é uma injeção de confiança para toda a equipe da Confrapar e investidores do fundo”, qualifica.

As negociações com o Banco de Desenvolvimento da América Latina começaram há mais de um ano, mas se intensificaram em outubro passado. Além do investimento no Fundo NascenTI, a CAF já havia destinado recursos a outro fundo brasileiro, de biotecnologia, juntamente com a AgeRio, em outubro de 2011.

As assinaturas do boletim de subscrição e do termo de adesão pelo presidente da CAF, Enrique García, aconteceram no último dia 24 de abril. Com a entrada da CAF, a Finep aumenta seu valor de investimento no fundo, uma vez que 40% do patrimônio comprometido do NascenTI vem da Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos.
