Cate Ambrose, President and Executive Director
Cate Ambrose is President and Executive Director of the Latin American Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (LAVCA). She speaks and writes regularly on a range of topics related to public policy and private investment in Latin America, and is a regular commentator on CNN En Español, Bloomberg, and Fox Business and a guest lecturer at The Wharton School. Cate is also a member of the Board of Directors for Youth INC, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of New York City’s youth, and a member of the Bretton Woods Committee, a nonpartisan network of prominent global citizens, which works to demonstrate the value of international economic cooperation.
Prior to joining LAVCA, Cate was Chief of Advocacy for the Commission on Legal Empowerment of the Poor, a United Nations initiative co-chaired by Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto and former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, where she directed research projects on business regulation and property rights in Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, India, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Until 2005, Cate was Executive Director of Programs at The Economist, where she founded The Global Agenda, a high-level panel of economists, policymakers, and business leaders, and chaired conferences on finance, business strategy, and public policy in the US and Latin America. These included annual roundtables with the Presidents of Mexico and Colombia.
Cate began her career as a journalist in Spain. She holds an MPA in International Economic Policy from Columbia University, and received her BA in Latin American studies from St Lawrence University and the University of Madrid.
Ivonne Cuello, Director of Business Development and Strategy
Ivonne Cuello is Director of Business Development and Strategy at LAVCA. In this capacity she leads business initiatives, new product launches, and helps shape LAVCA’s organizational strategy.
Prior to joining LAVCA, Ivonne was Director of Entrepreneurship at ANDI (Asociacion Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia), a private sector organization in Colombia with over 1,100 members. In this role she headed and launched the Entrepreneurship Program of the Association called ANDI del Futuro with 300 high potential entrepreneurs. She built the National Mentor and Investment Angel platform for the program, with the support of MIT and over 50 C-Level Executives and HNWI.
Ivonne previously worked at Proexport Colombia, a government investment agency. During her four years at Proexport, she worked with over 30 private equity investors from the U.S., Canada, UK, and Asia across a wide range of industries in Colombia. In addition, she collaborated with the Ministry of Finance and a local development bank in efforts to enhance the regulatory framework for private equity in Colombia.
Ivonne holds a MSc in Global Management from Université Paris-Dauphine and a BS in Economics from Universidad de los Andes. She is member of the Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum (WEF). Ivonne is a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English, French, and conversational in Portuguese.
Caitlin Mitchell, Chief Communications Officer
Caitlin Mitchell is LAVCA’s Chief Communications Officer. In this role, she is responsible for working with the organization’s executive team to design and implement media relations, strategic partnerships, and communication with key constituents and members.
Prior to joining LAVCA, Caitlin was most recently a Senior Account Manager at Financial PR agency Cognito where she supported clients such as Citigroup, Nomura Research Institute, and IMN to develop global PR and marketing strategies. Caitlin has also previously worked at Prosek Partners working with firms including Franklin Templeton and Jefferies. Throughout her career she has contributed to long-term and short-term media relations campaigns that result in significant print and video coverage in outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, New York Times, CNBC, Barron’s, USA Today, Institutional Investor, Forbes, American Banker, etc.
Caitlin is an experienced media trainer and is a member of the Financial Communications Society New York Chapter. She has a Bachelors in Public Relations with a Minor in Business Marketing from the State University of New York at Fredonia and has completed Securities Industry and Series 7 training courses.
Caitlin is currently studying Spanish and was previously an ESL teacher in Bangkok, Thailand.
Julie Ruvolo is Director of Venture Capital Strategy at LAVCA where she manages venture investor relationships in Latin America and globally, as well as oversees venture-related educational programs and digital content.
Prior to joining LAVCA, Julie covered tech and innovation in Brazil as a journalist for TechCrunch, Fusion, Buzzfeed, GOOD Magazine, Advertising Age, and The Atlantic’s CityLab.com. Until 2010, she served as COO of Solvate, a venture-backed startup she co-founded to provide startups on-demand access to exceptional talent, and was an active member of the community of women in digital in New York City.
Julie started her career at Sequoia-backed advertising network AdBrite, pioneering relationships with agencies and brand advertisers, and served as the Director of Advertising for DivX, a video technology company. She received her B.A. in Cultural and Social Anthropology from Stanford University in 2004 with honors distinction for research conducted in Rio de Janeiro. She is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
Alex Henao, Director of Finance and Member Services
Alex Henao is responsible for managing LAVCA’s financial and Member services functions.
Alex is currently an MBA candidate in the Investment Management program at the Lubin School of Business in Pace University in New York. He graduated from the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at Pace University with a degree in History. His professional background includes experience working for publishing and asset management firms.
He speaks English and Spanish and is studying Portuguese.
Eduardo Roman, Director of Research
Eduardo Roman is Director of Research at LAVCA. He oversees the delivery of quality research products and services to LAVCA’s Members and to the Latin America PE/VC community.
Prior to joining LAVCA, Eduardo was a Senior Research and Analytics Manager at Private Equity International (PEI) where he was a technical leader for the New York, London, and Hong Kong research and analytics teams. In this role, he assisted the firm with the development of best practices, research and analytical capabilities. He was responsible for the quality of PEI’s private markets fundraising and Latin American Limited Partners data. Eduardo also led a number of proprietary rankings including the PEI300, and PERE50.
Before Private Equity International, Eduardo was a Service Manager at Chile’s Entel, the second largest telecommunications operator in the country. Eduardo also gained experience in the financial services industry at UBS’ Wealth Management division in New York, where he collaborated with investment proposals and portfolio evaluations for high net worth individuals.
Eduardo holds an MBA in Finance and Economics from City University of New York – Baruch College and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Universidad de Chile. He is a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English and Portuguese.
Natalia Valencia, Senior Research Analyst
Natalia is Senior Research Analyst. In this role she supports the generation and delivery of quality research products and services to LAVCA’s Members and to the Latin America PE/VC community.
Prior to joining LAVCA, Natalia worked with Nomura Research Institute America (NRIA), a leading Japanese consulting firm, where she conducted market research and provided consulting services to top Asian companies. She led projects in the Energy and Infrastructure group and was also involved in all Latin American projects. Prior to joining NRIA, Natalia worked as a consultant for private organizations in both the US and Colombia.
Natalia holds an MPA from Columbia University and a BSc in Biology from Universidad de los Andes. She is fluent in Spanish, English, French and conversational in Portuguese.
Elisabeth Soto is the Manager of Digital Media and Marketing at the Latin American Private Equity & Venture Capital Association. In this role, she contributes to the organization’s digital marketing and media strategies including online campaigns, web applications, and social media activity.
Prior to joining LAVCA, Elisabeth worked as a Digital Media Manager at Sony DADC where she helped migrate Sony Music Entertainment’s digital partners in Latin America to a new digital supply chain. Prior to this position, Elisabeth worked for a number of non-profit organizations and international development projects in Latin America and the Middle East in a marketing and fundraising capacity, including Fundación ALMA, USAID, and ProWorld Service Corps.
Elisabeth holds a B.A. in International Relations and Middle Eastern studies from Columbia University. She also spent a semester at the University of Jordan as student of the Council of International Education Exchange. She is fluent in Spanish, proficient in Modern Standard and Jordanian Colloquial Arabic and studies Portuguese.
Claudia Piza Rosenbloom, Manager of Venture Capital Programs, Brazil
Claudia Piza Rosenbloom oversees venture capital initiatives in Brazil for LAVCA, splitting her time between New York and São Paulo. In her first role at the organization, Claudia worked as a Senior Research Associate, supporting all of LAVCA’s research efforts and products.
Prior to joining LAVCA, Claudia worked with Standard & Poor’s Capital IQ, a leading global provider of multi-asset class, real-time financial data, where she performed in-depth private equity and venture capital research for Latin America, with a special focus on Brazil. In this capacity she established the company’s private equity and venture capital database for Latin America. Prior to S&P Capital IQ, Claudia worked with the Embassy of Costa Rica in London. She is Costa Rican and has also lived in São Paulo and Buenos Aires.
Claudia holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Universidad de San Andrés. While at San Andrés, she spent a semester in Barcelona studying at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Leah Galamba, Manager of Events and Administration
Leah Galamba is the Manager of Events and Administration. She is responsible for the planning and execution of Member programming, as well as coordinating various aspects of the LAVCA office.
Leah holds Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Spanish from Penn State University. While at Penn State she spent a semester abroad in Seville, Spain, as well as time traveling throughout Brazil and Peru. She also worked for the University Global Student Engagement Team where she helped to create programs designed to help assimilate international students to Penn State, as well as organize and lead the International Student Orientation. Her senior honors thesis was focused on examining the recent decline in income inequality in Latin America and the role of policy. She speaks English, Spanish, and is studying Portuguese.

Ariel Muslera, Senior Advisor
With more than 10 years of experience as an active investor, advisor, and entrepreneur in Argentina and the US, Ariel Muslera is a leading figure in the Venture Capital ecosystem in Latin America. Currently a Senior Advisor on Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship at LAVCA, Ariel originally joined the organization in November 2008 to lead the creation of innovative research products and services for LAVCA’s network fund managers in Latin America. In October 2009, he moved to Buenos Aires to open LAVCA’s first regional office.
Ariel Muslera is also currently Advisor to Santander Innoventures Global Fintech VC Fund, Founder of Tuk Tuk Lab (a soon-to-be-launched investment platform with focus on innovation and new product development in partnership with corporations), and a member of the Kaufmann Fellows Program. Prior to that he was a partner at CAP Ventures, an Argentina-based VC fund, where he led all the technology-related investments of the fund, including two successful exits. Prior to CAP, he was full-time at LAVCA as Director of Strategy and Product Development. Mr. Muslera has also held various other roles in the venture community including as Lead Partner at NetStrategies, a US-based boutique advisory firm where he co-led capital raising and strategy engagements for multiple technology start-up companies in the new media industry, and as Founding Partner of Eastpoint Ventures, which developed tech startups operating in specific industry verticals. Mr. Muslera holds an MBA with Honors from Columbia Business School and has a BA in Economics from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.
Ariel holds an MBA with Honors from Columbia Business School and has lived and worked in New York, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.
Fabiana Cid de Andrade, Senior Advisor
Fabiana Cid de Andrade is a Senior Advisor to LAVCA. In this capacity she builds on her previous role as Director of Business Development and Strategy, a position she held for two years. Fabiana is also currently Vice President, Credit Suisse Private Fund Group.
In addition to her role as Director of Business Development and Strategy at LAVCA, Fabiana was Managing Partner of Vendemia Partners. Prior to joining LAVCA, Fabiana was Head of Latin America Regional Distribution at ING Investment Management, where she led the firm’s commercial efforts in the Region including offshore mutual funds and private equity fundraising. In addition, she oversaw the distribution of Latin America-based investment strategies to global markets. She joined ING in 2003 as a Global Management Program Trainee and has held multiple strategy, business development, and distribution roles for ING in Canada, UK, and the US. Fabiana began her career as Product Manager for American Express Latin America and ABN Amro/Real in Brazil.
Fabiana holds an MBA in International Business from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a BA in Marketing from Mackenzie University in Sao Paulo. She has also completed the Private Equity and Venture Capital Program at Harvard Business School and earned a post-graduate degree in International Business from FAAP in Sao Paulo.
Juan Savino, Senior Advisor
Juan Savino is Senior Advisor for LAVCA. In this capacity he builds on his previous role as Director of Research, a position he held from 2011-2014, to help guide the expansion of LAVCA’s research products for its members and the Latin America PE/VC community. Juan has been with LAVCA since June 2009. Juan is also currently Senior Vice President at Sabertia Capital Partners, a global advisory firm focused on raising capital with special focus on investors based in non-core markets.
Before LAVCA, Mr. Savino was a Research Analyst at Bloomberg LP in London and a Strategy Analyst at Argentina’s National Investment Development Agency in Buenos Aires, where he developed sector-focused research to encourage foreign direct investment in the country. He started his career as an Associate at Aconcagua Ventures, an investment firm acquiring minority positions in high-growth potential small-and medium-enterprises in Latin America. Mr. Savino holds an MS in Finance from Universidad del CEMA and a B.S. in Business Administration from Universidad de San Andrés. He is a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English and Italian, and conversational in Portuguese.
Ksenija Jovanovic, Senior Advisor
Ksenija Jovanovic is Senior Advisor for LAVCA, where she previously held the role of Director of Business Development. In this capacity she supports the LP platform, including new product launches, events, and overall strategy. She is also currently Director at a large institutional investor.
Prior to her work at LAVCA, Ksenija was Vice President at Partners Group, a private markets investment manager with over US$30b in assets under management. In this role she created and headed the Latin America investment team with responsibility for all direct, secondary, and fund private equity investments, managing relationships with over 50 GPs. During her eight year tenure at Partners, Ksenija held various roles including both fundraising and investment responsibilities. She was also a voting member of the Global Direct Investment Committee, Emerging Markets Primaries Investment Committee, and U.S. Primaries Investment Committee. During her time, she sourced, structured, negotiated, and executed 50+ private equity investments in the U.S., Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile, across a wide range of industries.
Ksenija holds an MBA and BS with a double major in Finance and International Business from the NYU Leonard Stern School of Business. Ksenija is fluent in Spanish, English, and Serbian with knowledge of German and Portuguese.
