Now Available – Watch LAVCA’s Webinar on Pension Funds & Private Equity

LAVCA hosted the first in a series of Webinars “Pension Fund Investments in Private Equity and Venture Capital: The Brazilian Case” on Monday, April 19th.

The webinar highlighted themes that were raised during a private seminar co-hosted LAVCA, FINEP and MIF on March 2-3 in Rio de Janeiro for pension funds investing in private equity and venture capital.

Pierre Yves Mathonet, the author of “Beyond the J-Curve” and other important books on allocating to PE/VC, presented on fund monitoring and reporting standards, and addressed some specific areas where practices in Brazil and other emerging PE markets differ from global best practices

Following the presentation, the heads of two large Brazilian pension funds currently allocating to PE and VC shared their perspectives on criteria for selecting fund managers, expectations for reporting and transparency, and the opportunity to commit to PE and VC managers outside of Brazil.

Finally, Sidney Chameh, the new chairman of the Brazilian PE/VC Association ABVCAP, spoke to the priorities and concerns of Brazilian fund managers who have, or seek to have, local pension funds as LPs.

Moderator Cate Ambrose, LAVCA President and Executive Director, was joined by panelists:

  • Pierre-Yves Mathonet, Head of Risk Management, Private Equity and Venture Capital Unit, European Investment Fund
